At just 15 years old, Brady Hanson has already discovered his calling in the kitchen. Shy in demeanor, the talented young cook expresses himself through food. He began by experimenting with dessert decorating and soon advanced to creating and customizing his own recipes. His ingenious brainstorming combines social media, cookbooks, and his own imagination as starting points for his visionary recipes.

Mesmerized by a mirror-glaze application he viewed on a social media clip, Brady was ignited. He dove into experimenting in the process. Much of Brady’s inspiration comes from his family, on whom he loves to test his new creations. Large family gatherings find him working feverishly in the kitchen, trying new ideas and advancing his skills.

In this new cake recipe, he uses a basic store bought cake box while personalizing it with his own special ingredient, hazelnuts, because, to him, they are “so flavorful and fun to work with.” He then complements the toasted hazelnut flavors with white chocolate and nutmeg. When asked to decorate the cake, he did not skip a beat, deciding to place chopped hazelnuts, pine tree sprigs, and gold flakes gracefully onto the rim.

So impressive are his skills, he has been invited to cater desserts for community gatherings and parties and is planning to pursue a career in the culinary and restaurant industry. But for now, Brady the avant-garde baker and high school sophomore is looking forward to playing various sports while enjoying his high school years.
