Easy Puff Pastry with Pears
This recipe for easy pears with puff pastry can be put together in a hurry for unexpected company. Frozen packaged puff pastry and fruit can be assembled quickly and baked in less than a half hour for an elegant dessert. The recipe serves two, but is easily multiplied by increasing the ingredients as needed. It’s adaptable to other sliced fresh (or frozen) fruit or berries that you have on hand.
Ingredients
- 4 Bosc pears, peeled, and sliced
- Juice of half a lemon
- 79 ml (1/3 cup) apple liqueur (optional)
- 79 ml (1/3 cup) pear syrup or granulated sugar
- 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) vanilla extract
- 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) ground cinnamon
- 79 ml (1/3 cup) melted butter
- 5 ml (1 teaspoon) brown sugar
- One puff pastry sheet (245 grams or about 8 ounces)
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the pears, lemon juice, liquer, syrup or granulated sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Allow to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
2. In a sauté pan or skillet over medium heat, sauté pears until soft and most of the liquid is cooked out. Mash most of the pears until you get a chunky applesauce consistency; leave a few un-mashed.
3. Preheat oven to 177°C (350°F). Spread a non-stick baking sheet or pan with melted butter and top with a little brown sugar. Spread with pear mixture and top with the puffed pastry, cutting to fit as needed. Bake until the pastry is golden brown, 15-20 minutes. Allow to cool, and serve warm.
I’ve tried several of her products. They have all been amazing. The extra benefit is that she uses all natural ingredients.
I’m looking forward to the other products she will whip up!
