Historian and award-winning writer Sara Dahmen is the only known female coppersmith building copper cookware in America. She lives with her husband and three children on a mini-farm in Wisconsin near Lake Michigan, where she restores vintage copperware or designs new pieces using tools and methods from the 1700 and 1800s. Her book, Copper, Iron and Clay, discusses how cookware is made, but also touches on cooking and using historical recipes in modern life. With a passion for preserving historic trades, craft, lost knowledge and kitchen remedies, Sara’s notebooks are always brimming with a nod to the past that are still relevant to today.
